Jumping Joey

Materials needed:
- Kangaroo pattern click here
- 1 empty toilet tissue roll
- 4 1/2 x 5 1/2″ light brown construction paper
- 6 1/2 x 12″ light brown construction paper
- 4 x 8″ dark brown construction paper
- red & black markers
- glue
- scissors
- ruler
- wiggle eyes
- 10″ thin elastic
- 1 button
- hole punch
1. With the 4 Ѕ x 5 Ѕ” piece of light brown construction paper cover the entire toilet tissue roll and glue. Let dry completely. 2. Print out the kangaroo pattern. Trace around the arms, head, and tail on the other piece of light brown construction paper and cut out. Trace around the legs on the dark brown construction paper and cut out. Glue all these parts onto the covered tissue roll. Let dry.
3. Make a slit in the belly with your open scissors so that the baby kangaroo will fit inside. Tape the baby inside from the inside of the tissue roll.
4. Glue eyes on the large kangaroo and on the baby.
5. With the black marker make a nose on both kangaroos.
6. With the red marker make a mouth on both kangaroos.
7. Make a hole at the back of the kangaroo about 1″ from the edge with a hole punch. Tie the elastic through the hole on the body. Then thread the top of the elastic through the button and come back down through another hole. Tie a knot on the bottom side of the button.
8. To make your kangaroo jump, hold the kangaroo down to a table top and stretch the elastic up high as far as you can and let it go. Repeat, over and over to make Joey jump!
